Tree of Savior offers three control options for players to chose - auto, keyboard, mouse and controller. By default, the control method will assigned as Auto, switching between keyboard and controller based on which device receives inputs. It is mandatory to have a keyboard available while playing as it is required for chat functions and also as a complement for other control schemes.
Default Mapping[]
Each control setting has a preset configuration for basic actions, communication and combat, many sharing common keys. It is possible to change key bindings in the options menu. However, certain actions aren't displayed properly or don't offer rebinding. The information about control preferences is saved locally in a file named hotkey.xml. This means the changes are applied to the computer running the game instead of team, character or server. It is recommended to make a copy of this file to have a quick backup.

The key mapping used for keyboards follows the standard US QWERTY layout. Even with a different keyboard variation, the mapping will take the key in the expected physical position instead of the letter or symbol. It is expected for this to persist even to non-QWERTY keyboard layouts. In this case you must check if all quick slots in the keyboard are aligned with the in-game slot distribution.
